      Division 4 No. 6-ranked Ann Arbor Greenhills won its first Michigan High School Athletic Association girls golf regional championship on Monday, Oct. 4, topping Royal Oak Shrine Catholic for the Region 24 title at Washtenaw Golf Course in Ypsilanti.

   Greenhills finished at 371. Shrine shot 379. Third-place Almont scored 449. Greenhills freshman Mia Melendez was medalist, shooting 75.

 Sophomore Alesha Hassan shot 85, finishing second. Senior Sabeen Malik finished at 97. Senior Aanya Seth shot 114.

   Greenhills was coming off an impressive second place finish at the Catholic High School League Cardinal Division championship on Sept. 28 at the Detroit Golf Club. Division 2 No. 8-ranked Dearborn Divine Child won the title. Melendez was also CHSL medalist, shooting 73.

   Greenhills advances to the MHSAA Division 4 championship on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 15-16, at Forest Akers East, Michigan State University. Greenhills finished in 17th place at last season’s state tournament.
