Grosse Pointe South players pose with their MHSAA regional championship trophy on Wednesday.

   Division 1 No. 7-ranked Grosse Pointe South won the Michigan High School Athletic Association Region 3 girls golf championship on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Whispering Willows Golf Course in Livonia.

   South finished with a score of 344. Livonia Franklin was second at 350. Dearborn was third with a score of 381. The three teams advance to the MHSAA Division 1 finals on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20 at Bedford

Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek.

   Sophomore Audrey Becker was medalist, shooting a 78. Junior Kaitlin Ifkovits shot 82, junior Gray Rahm finished at 90, sophomore Jennifer Crowley shot 94, and sophomore Alston Smith had a 104 for Grosse Pointe South.

   Grosse Pointe South last won the MHSAA Division 1 title in 2011.
